Best Songs For The Holidays

holidays

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m so looking forward to Christmas now that Thanksgiving is over and I have relentlessly been listening to Christmas music. (Then again I’ve been doing that for about a month already, but at least now I don’t need to feel awkward about it.) Since the holidays are right around the corner, we’re all probably starting to form our holiday playlists. At least I know I am.

So in honor of the holiday spirit (and my love for all things Christmas) I’ve compiled a list of my favorite holiday songs. Plus, I may or may not be using this as an excuse to further play Christmas music.

1. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey (Total classic in my book)
2. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
3. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Bruce Springsteen
4. Jingle Bell Rock – Billy Idol
5. The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole
6. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Judy Garland
7. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) – John Lennon
8. White Christmas – Bing Crosby
9. Fairytale Of New York – The Pogues
10. Jingle Bells – Diana Krall
11. Christmas Time Is Here – A Charlie Brown Christmas (who is this?)
12. Please Come Home For Christmas – The Eagles
13. Baby It’s Cold Outside – Bing Crosby and Doris Day
14. Carol Of The Bells – Mykola Leontovych
15. I’ll Be Home For Christmas – Bing Crosby
16. Christmas Canon Rock – Trans-Siberian Orchestra
17. Let It Snow! – Dean Martin
18. Merry Christmas, Baby – Rod Stewart
19. Silver Bells – Bing Crosby
20. It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – Bing Crosby (Basically just any Bing Crosby Christmas song)
21. A Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives
22. Where Are You, Christmas? – Faith Hill
23. Christmas Eve – Trans-Siberian Orchestra
24. Sleigh Ride – Ella Fitzgerald
25. Winter Wonderland – Louis Armstrong

As a bonus song, if you haven’t heard it already go listen to I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas, which is a hilarious song from the 50s that cracks my mom and I up every time.

There are obviously about 20 versions of each song and there are so many great ones out there, but these are my personal favorites! What are some of your favorite Christmas songs?
