I’ve never done goals posts before on the blog, but others who do seem to get great feedback and I think it would be a great way to motivate myself to keep up with the things I tell myself I’m going to do with the blog in the coming month. I’m still trying to figure out what my mission statement is, how frequently I should post and especially my social media strategies. So, for the next couple of months I think I’m going to give these goals posts a go and see how things come!
Post at least 2 or 3 times a week. I’ve been really bad about keeping up with my blog posts each week and I think that’s mainly because I don’t have an effective editorial planning strategy. I need to sit down and come up with blog post ideas and stick to posting them when I say. I’m hoping this month I’ll be able to 3 posts a week, but if not I’m definitely aiming for 2.
Post to Instagram at least 4 times a week. Instagram is probably my best and favorite social media platform because I love photography and I really enjoy scrolling through others photos of places I want to go, things they’re reading and what people are up to. In the past couple of weeks I’ve been posting more and working really hard to interact with similar users and I’ve seen a lot of growth in my followers, so I’m hoping to keep that up this month. I post to Instagram already a couple of times a week on average, so this month I’m going to see if I can keep it at around 4 times a week.
Revamp Pinterest and make it more aesthetically pleasing. I do love Pinterest, but I lack any sort of strategy and my boards are definitely not orderly or pretty. This month I really want to focus on reorganizing my boards and making more detailed ones and moving my pins around so they’re in better places. This really needs to be done before I set out with a Pinterest strategy, so I’m hoping to finish that this month so I can move forward next month with a solid plan.
Come up with a social media strategy and start using planning tools. Finally, I’d really like to start using planning tools such as Buffer to really up my game. I think this month I need to start brainstorming how I’m going to utilize these tools and come up with a strategy and then next month hit the ground running. Big goals but I think I can achieve them!
Read two of the books on my reading list. I’ve just finished The Innocent (so look for a review post soon) and I’m working on Gone Girl now. I’m hoping to finish that and one other book this month at the last.
Work out at least 2 to 3 times a week. I just took a Zumba class yesterday so I’m off to a good start! I’m looking to get into yoga a bit as well because I could use the exercise and hopefully it will give me a way to relieve some stress and calm down about life. I’m aiming for the gym 2 or 3 times, but I’ll settle for workouts at home too because that’s not always possible. Really this month I just want to be up and moving more than I have been because enough of that.
Apply to more jobs and stay positive. As many of you know we just moved to the UK last month after spending a year in Australia and since arriving I’ve been applying to jobs. So far no luck, but it’s been less than a month so that’s not unheard of or really that unusual. I just need to keep plugging away and not get discouraged.
